Be my Valentine

Valentine's day was a low key affair at our house this year.

For Sophie's present I got her some big red shiny balloons as well as some sensory items for her to play with.  I found some fabric hearts that were shiny, some velvet ones and a heart bead necklace and I put them all in a big shiny colander for her to explore with her hands.  She thought it was great fun.

Sophie and Zoe each got a little Valentine's day book that I found on our trip to Florida.  Zoe is all about Fancy Nancy these days and Sophie got an Elmo Valentine's book.  Lucas was quite happy with candy and his balloons.

Sophie had alot of fun opening her Valentine cards with her Nana.  Sophie was showered with love from her friends at school too.  A few of them made special Valentine's for her with pictures that they drew.  Sophie also delivered a special Valentine to her grade 8 reading buddy, I heard she walked through the whole school in her walker and was so proud to deliver it to the grade 8 classroom.

This kid can walk

We finally have it.  Sophie received her very own Kid Walk gait mobility system.  It has been a long time coming, I knew almost two years ago that this would be the one for my girl, we trialed it in the summer of 2011.  In the meantime we trialed a few other gait trainers and walkers but I always came back to this one.  It is just the right fit.

Sophie is slowly getting used to it, she has to move a different way than she did with her old Pony walker, but she is figuring it out.  She can move around quite well already, she just needs a little more steering control lol.

We are so thankful for Sophie's two physiotherapists who were both willing to go the extra mile to get Sophie this walker.  It isn't one that is easily approved and they made it happen.

Very soon she will also have the same walker at school so that will give her even more practice.  I am sure that she will be running all over the school yard by spring time!
