This long weekend we had a great time just doing whatever we felt like each day. We had a great time with friends where the kids played some ball and enjoyed the sunshine.
There is something special to be said about long time friends that even if you don't see them all the time, when you do get together it is so relaxed that you would think you hang out everyday. You can just sit back and laugh together and catch up on what is going on. They see Sophie as Sophie, nothing different, not special needs Sophie. The kids don't give a second thought about her funny noises or movements or her pump and tubes.

We used this weekend to get some work done around the house, a bit of a spring cleaning. Lucas' lego has gotten a little out of control lately. The family room rug was half covered by all his creations and it was time for a cull. We decided that it would be a good thing to organize all his bins of lego so that he could find the pieces he needed more easily. So we dumped the whole lot on the rug and got down to business. An hour and a half later we had everything sorted by colour into 7 shoe box bins. It was a bit more of an endeavour than I had expected ;)

On Sunday night Lucas and I had fun at a neighbourhood fireworks party. As was predicted, Sophie started to fall asleep just as we were about to head out to the party, so Jason stayed home with her. She would have been terrified by all the fireworks anyway, so it was probably for the best. Lucas enjoyed the sparklers after the big fireworks show and only burned one finger :p
Yesterday, after 3 weeks of Soccer being postponed due to soggy fields, Lucas was finally able to start. Yay! He was so excited to meet his coach and see who is on his team. He knew 3 boys on the team so that was great. It is nice that he has some buddies built in, but it is also nice that he has the opportunity to meet some new friends.
Unfortunately the city neglected to cut the grass on the field so you couldn't even see the balls they were kicking during drills. It kind of put a damper on the first practice, I sure hope they get it cut for the first game tomorrow night.

Lucas didn't really seem to care though so all was not lost. Speedy is back for another summer :)

Looks like everyone had a great time on the weekend. I had to laugh at the look on Lucas' friend's faces while playing football, they sure take the game serious! :) I hope Lucas had a great game!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love long weekends and late spring for all of the things you posted about. Like you can finally relax and sit back a bit. Just let it all roll on.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful long weekend. It was so great to see you! We really need to plan a date for tea some time soon. Love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteHaha wheat fields. That is some long grass! Reminds me of Little house on the prairie- only with boys playing soccer. Looks like you've had a nice start to summer.
